2019-2020 Fall Travel Assessments

Cape Fear Youth Hockey Associations is excited to announce tryouts schedule for the 2019-2020 Season. For the upcoming season we will be fielding teams at  Mite Select, Squirt B & A, Pee Wee and Midget levels.  (Note:  Team designations  are subject to change based upon size and skill level of the team.)

Initial tryouts were completed on May 17 and 18, 2019.

An additional end of summer tryout will be scheduled in August. Date TBD.

All players are asked to arrive with enough time to be on the ice and prepared for their scheduled session. All sessions will begin promptly at their designated times.
Each player attending tryouts must complete an ONLINE registration form that provides general family information. The assessment registration fee is $50 per player, per team. Online registration is currently open on the Cape Fear website.
Evaluation Process
The evaluation process will have several components including skating, skills and scrimmages. The skills component will consist of a series of varied drills designed by the tryout coordinators.  These drills are executed by the on-ice staff, and are intended to focus on different fundamental aspects of ice hockey: skating, shooting, passing, defensive play, offensive play and hockey sense. The drills will allow the evaluators to judge the ability of the players accurately.
Receiving An Offer - What's Next?
Players accepting offers will be required to pay a non-refundable commitment fee of $250.  This commitment fee will be applied to the overall season tuition cost.  Payment Plans for season tuition will be available with payments beginning June and ending in January.
What If A Player Misses A Session? (Illness, injury, ETC.)
You should plan on attending all tryout sessions for your level. The more the evaluators see of you, the better your chance of accurate placement. However, it is understood that problems can arise, and if you find yourself in that position, please contact one of the coaches or coordinators as soon as possible so we are aware of your absence. The selection will be based on whatever information is available from any sessions that were completed and evaluated.
