Recreational Hockey
Cape Fear Hockey’s 10-14U recreational program is designed for players who are new to the game, not playing at the travel level yet, don't have the time to commit to travel, or are just happy with the recreational level play.
The emphasis in recreational hockey is on skill development, primarily skating skills. Players will improve their skating, learn hockey concepts, learn the rules of the game, and learn how to be a part of a team in a noncompetitive setting. Travel is limited (no overnight trips) and games will be a combination of internal scrimmages and noncompetitive games with other developmental programs in the region. The goal of the recreational program is to prepare players for the next level of hockey. We hope to instill a love for the game in a FUN and challenging environment.
Recreational hockey includes two practices a week and recreational games on weekends. Games will consist of a combination of internal scrimmages and noncompetitive games with other recreational level programs typically starting a few months into the season to give time for skills to be established and knowledge of the rules are understood.
For the 2023-24 season, CFYHA will hold recreational hockey programs for players ages 9-14, birth years 2009-2014. Players in these programs should have some skating experience. Full hockey gear is required.
10U Practice is held on Tuesday and Thursdays 5:45-6:45 pm.
12/14U Practice is held Tuesday and Thursdays 7:30-8:30 pm.
Games/Scrimmages will be added as scheduled, which will be on Saturday or Sundays.
Season runs September 5, 2023 through March 17, 2024.
